The beginning of our 7 days trip to Andaman
We were traveling with kids this time, the younger one just 7 months old. So, we did all our trip planning considering them. We booked an afternoon flight from Bangalore and reached Port Blair by 3:00pm. Using our tried tips to book cheap flights, we got a fairly good deal. Next, packing for the Andaman trip was a breeze, since, due to the hot and humid climate, we packed light. And in no time, we were done with our travel packing like a pro! After collecting our baggage we proceeded towards the exit. Near the exit is a tourist information center cum pre paid taxi booking counter. So, we booked a taxi from here to our hotel, Hotel De Marina .The taxi driver suggest we keep his number in case we wanted to contact him for further trips. And we did the same. We reached hotel in 15 minutes, checked-in into our rooms and got fresh. Then, we took some rest and headed for an early dinner by 6:30pm. Since we were tired. And most of the attractions in Port Blair close off by 4:00pm. So, there was no point going anywhere today.
The second day on our 7 days trip to Andaman
The initial plan for today was to go to Baratang Island and visit the limestone caves. But however much we tried to contact our taxi driver the night before, the phone call did not go through. In fact, even through our hotel the calls were not going anywhere. The hotel guy said it was an exceptional day, usually network was better than this. Anyways, the vehicles for Baratang have to start either by early morning 4:30am or no later than 6:00am. Since, we couldn’t contact the vehicle and confirm our departure, we changed our plans for the day.
Post breakfast, we headed to the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex. As it was located at walking distance from our hotel. So, we just packed the essentials for the day, particularly for the baby. And then headed to the complex to catch a boat for a day tour to Ross Island and North Bay Island. The round trip boat cost INR 750 per head. We pre-booked the boat from our hotel reception to avoid any queues at the ticketing counter. And then met the agent as suggested by the hotel. From him we also purchased tickets for some water sports activities at North Bay Island like scuba diving etc. And then proceeded to visit first Ross Island and then North Bay Island. Soon I will add here the link to a post on complete account of our trip:
Visiting Ross Island, Andaman, India
Our day trip to Ross Island and North Bay Island from Port Blair
We returned from the trip around 3:00pm and had our lunch on way to our hotel. After that we took rest and retired early to bed after dinner.
Off to Havelock
On the third day of our trip to Andaman, we checked out from our hotel and proceeded to the jetty to catch our cruise to Havelock Island. The cruise was at 8:00am and as per the instructions on the ticket, we reached the jetty 1 hour before departure. So, we did an early checkout from our hotel at 6:30am. Although, breakfast at hotel was not available yet. But, they provided us pre arranged packaged breakfast. As we had informed them the day before about our early departure. Also, we had called the taxi driver the day before in the evening to confirm our time of departure so that the taxi would arrive on time.
We had pre booked our cruise online with Makruzz. The trip was around 1.5 hrs. It was our first cruise trip. Although it was simple from the standard of those who have taken bigger cruises, we were still excited like kids. soon I will add here the detailed account of our makruzz journey:

Symphony Palm Beach Resort & Vijaynagar Beach
Upon reaching Havelock islands, just outside the jetty we saw several taxi drivers, calling us to go with them. We talked to one, fixed the rates and proceeded to our pre booked resort – Symphony Palm Resort. After checking in and getting fresh, we proceeded to Vijaynagar beach. The beach was just across the property. After spending around 1.5 hrs on Vijaynagar beach, we returned back from lunch. Upon arrival at the hotel, we had informed our taxi driver that we wanted to go to Raghanagar beach around 3:00pm. So, he arrived on time, and we proceeded to Radhanagar beach. Finally, having spent a beautiful evening strolling at the beach, we returned back to our hotel and reached by 6:30pm. After which we had dinner and slept. For details of our experience exploring the beaches, you can jump to these posts:

Our experience visiting Neil
The next day we woke up early and went to Vijaynagar beach to enjoy a beautiful sunrise. And post this we returned back to get ready for our onwards journey to Neil Island. Again post breakfast, we checked out from the hotel and proceeded to jetty to catch our cruise to Neil Island. We arrived here by 11:00am. Here, our experience catching a taxi outside the jetty was similar to Havelock. Actually, Neil Island is even smaller. So, in no time, we were at our resort – Silver Sand beach resort. And after checking in and settling in our respective rooms, we first proceeded to enjoy in the swimming pool as Aashi was eager to swim here. Post this, we had lunch and then proceeded to explore the backyards of the resort and the beach beyond.
The beach at Neil was again very different from rest of the beaches in Andaman. All the beaches here are full of corals, rocks and even tropical trees. But they are just very beautiful. We returned back to our rooms around 4:00pm after which it started raining here. I couldn’t help sit into the balcony sipping my coffee and watching the rain. There after we ordered dinner and retired early to bed. It was such a nice relaxing day today.
Back to Port Blair
On the 5th day of our trip to Andaman, we woke up early to explore the coastline of Neil Island by walking along the coast. We captured some beautiful morning shots. And came back to our rooms to get ready in time for breakfast. After this we checked out and caught the final cruise on this trip, back to Port Blair. We reached Port Blair by noon. Once again checked into our hotel and then proceeded for lunch. Post lunch, we all got ready to go to the Cellular Jail. Rest of the evening was spent at the Cellular Jail.
Another relaxing day on our 7 days trip to Andaman
If you remember, our initial plan was to go to Baratang Island on the second day our 7 days trip to Anadaman. Which didn’t work out because of network issues as we couldn’t contact the driver. However, we were hopefull to catch up on that missed trip today. But unfortunately, as luck had it, it was a Monday today and the visit to Limestone caves was closed. So, we decided to take the day light. Thus, we woke up a little late today, the first day on our 7 days trip to Andaman when we woke up late. Then we had breakfast. And proceeded to Abardeen Market to buy some souvenirs. The Market is again located at walking distance from the hotel.
Upon returning from the market, we had lunch and took rest for a while. Later on we proceeded to visit the Corbin’s Cove beach. And the park besides the Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex. Actually, it was a simple park. But it was very vibrant during the evening hours. With lots of people using the open air gym and a large number of kids playing around in the kids play area. While elders jogged around along the beach. Even Aashi enjoyed playing in the play area for sometime, while we just lazed around. Finally we returned back to our hotel post dark.
Final departure from Andaman
Finally came the last day of our 7 days trip to Andaman. Once again, we woke up early to catch one final show of the beautiful sunrises. And went for a walk on the well laid pathway along the way to the Corbyn’s cove beach. We walked for around 5 kms. After which we came back and had breakfast. And post breakfast, we got ready, packed our bags and checked out of the hotel. We had called the same taxi driver from our day one in Andaman to drop us off back to the airport. And from there, we boarded our flight back home.
What I wish to change on our 7 days trip to Andaman
Well, the only regret is not being able to do the Baratang Island trip. Maybe next time. Anyways, I was a little doubtful about doing this trip because it takes almost 12 hours to go and return back to your hotel. Which might have been hectic for my baby. But other than that, we had a very relaxing family trip. Actually, even the hot and humid climate suited my kids. As, their appetite was better than normally what it is back home. And they enjoyed the sun. Also, they slept better here. Hopefully we all had a good dose of Vitamin D before heading back to our city. Finally, I need to plan another beach trip soon to keep our Vitamin D levels intact 🙂
