On our recent weekend getaway from Bangalore, we had a royal stay at the Royal Orchids Brindavan Garden Mysore. And I must say, I was impressed by the wonderful and relaxing experience we had here. Actually we have done several trips to Mysore earlier. But mostly we have explored the royal city of Mysore on a day trip. And once been to Mysore Zoo when our first girl was little. It is the second largest zoo of Asia, only next to the Singapore Zoo, very well maintained. Anyways, coming back to the topic, this time around, we planned to explore Srirangapatna from Bangalore in one day. And also visit the Rangnathittu Bird Sanctuary. So, we decided to stay overnight at the Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden.
This was our second time staying in a Royal Orchid property, the first one being in Royal Orchid Hampi years back. Let us take you with us on this staycation experience today.
How to reach Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Mysore
The Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Mysore is located next to Brindavan Garden, actually, in the campus of Brindavan Garden, one of the most famous gardens of India. Once we booked with the hotel, they sent us a map pinning their main entry gate. So, it was easy to follow that map and reach Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Mysore. If you are considering this property for a staycation, you can drive in or hire a taxi from either Bangalore or Mysore. They even arrange for pickups and drop offs to and from Mysore Airport and Mysore railway station. So, it is not at all an issue to reach here.
Parking at Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden
Valet Parking is available at Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Mysore. And there is ample parking space within the campus. So, if you are driving here in your own vehicle, rest assured of good and safe parking. For us, as we do lots of road trips, parking and keeping the car safe is one of the highest priorities on Abhishek’s agenda as always 🙂
Our check-in experience at the resort
Check-in was swift. We got two rooms allotted on the ground floor itself. There are no lifts here as it is a heritage property. So, elderly can request for ground floor rooms if required.
Our Room at Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden
There are two categories of rooms available at Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Mysore –
King room – A room with king size bed, attached bathroom with bathtub and shower, an attached balcony with the direct view of the Brindavan Garden from the balcony and other basic amenities and facilities provided in the room itself like a mini bar, coffee and tea maker, hot water thermos etc.
Queen room – The facilities in the queen room are same as the king room, with the only difference that the beds in these rooms are queen size beds. Idle for couples and individuals.
We booked 2 king rooms for our family of 6. There are in total 24 rooms in the premises. Having only 24 rooms on the campus ensures that even when the hotel is fully booked, each guest gets the due attention and ample space for enjoying rest of the facilities at the hotel. Here are few snaps from our beautiful room, balcony and views from the room at Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Mysore.
The pool at the resort
There is a swimming pool available at the Royal Orchid as well. It is located in the center of their small garden with lush greenery surrounding the pool from all sides. Although we didn’t take a plunge in the pool this time. As, to be honest with you, the upkeep was lagging a little. It didn’t look sparkling clean.
Swimming pool timings at Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden: 6:00am to 6:00pm
Dinner at Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden
After enjoying a visit to the Brindavan Garden, we headed for dinner at the restaurant CKs. Dinner was included in our package. We enjoyed a good dinner spread. Although it was a buffet dinner, they presented us the menu for the same. And we ordered stuff on our table. North Indian food was particularly tasty.
Breakfast spread at Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Mysore
Next day morning, we woke up early and had a stroll in the Brindavan Garden. And then headed for breakfast. Once again, breakfast was included in our package. We had a nice spread of breakfast. It had south Indian delicacies like idli, dosa to order, poori and bhaji as well as continental options like egg preparations to order, bread of different varieties, muffins and some non vegetarian options. Although I won’t say that the spread was huge, but the food was delicious. After breakfast, around 10:00am, we checked out from the hotel. Other food options at the resort
Apart from the main restaurant, CKs, where we had our buffet dinner and buffet breakfast, there are two more food options at the Royal Orchid hotel here. An outdoor coffee shop called “Garden Cafe” which serves cafe menu, open from 10:00am to 12:30pm and again from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. It has a great view of the Brindavan Garden from the cafe. Another one is the Elephant Bar, a bar and muti cuisine restaurant, which provides various drinks and refreshments. Once again, this one also overlooks the Brindavan Garden. It is open from 11:00am to 11:00pm.
Facilities at Royal Orchid
Apart from the rooms, food and swimming pool, there are several other facilities and amenities that one can enjoy at the Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden Mysore. Some of these include :
- An on premises gym that all guests have complimentary access to.
- A spa center that provides various kinds of spa and massages at an additional cost.
- Gaming and entertainment zone equipped with playstation 4 and several exciting games.
- A conference hall called KRS hall which is a classy venue ideal for conference, large-scale corporate meeting, seminar or a small party.
USP of the stay at Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden
The hotel itself is not huge, but it is located in the campus of one of the largest gardens of India, the Brindavan Garden. All the rooms have a view of the garden. And guests have exclusive access to the garden. Which means, you can enjoy these wonderful views of the garden till late night right from your balcony:
And have access to the Brindavan Garden as early as 6:00am in the morning. When we visited the Brindavan Garden at 7:00am the next morning, there was not a single soul there. And we had such an exclusive experience. Taking a morning walk in the garden at this hour was an absolute delight. And a once in a lifetime experience. As, we have always visited the Brindavan Garden towards the evening on our earlier trips. And it does get very crowded in those hours.

Tips on visiting the Royal Orchid Brindavan Garden
- Follow the map given by the hotel. The entry to the hotel is from within the garden itself. But as you approach, you will clearly see the boards pointing to the hotel reception.
- At the entrance, you are required to purchase the entry ticket to the Brindavan Garden. However, with this one time ticket, you can enter the garden as many times as you like, given you will be staying within the garden itself. The entry ticket is INR 50/- for Indian National at the time of this writing.
- While reaching the KSR Dam area, you also have to pay a one time toll of INR 100/- per four wheeler.
- If you have elderly with you, you can ask for rooms on ground floor.
- Be careful in the washroom as they have free standing bath tubs with shower, which shake a bit 🙂 . Another area in the property that is demanding upkeep.
- Don’t venture in the Brindavan Garden in very early or late evening hours alone. And if you must, keep to the center. Leopard were spotted in the Brindavan Garden right before our visit. And an area of the garden was even closed off temporarily after this.
