Rann of Kutch Gujarat
The Rann of Kutch is a vast, arid salt marsh that stretches over 30,000 square kilometers. It is one of the most remarkable landscapes in India, particularly famous for its white, flat, and barren land that looks magical, especially during the full moon nights. Apart from being home to the famous white salt desert, the Rann of Kutch is also famous as a home to a variety of migratory birds, including flamingos, making it a fantastic spot for bird watching, especially in the winter months.
Rann Utsav
Particularly famous is the Rann Utsav that is held in Rann of Kutch every year from November to February. During this festival, there are tent accommodations setup at the great White Rann. Along with food stalls, shops of local handicrafts and art, activities like pottery making, paragliding in the desert, camel cart ride, horse cart ride and a lot more. Turning it into an energized buzzing fare for four months. People flock here in great numbers at this time of the year.

The village located right on the border with the Great White Desert is Dhordo. This is where the tents are setup for accommodation during the Rann Utsav. These homestays give an authentic feel of staying like a local and enjoying local cuisines.
Dholavira
Apart from the above, Rann of Kutch is also home to Dholavira – the site of the great Harappan Civilisation. The village of Dholavira is connected to Dhordo through the road to heaven – one of the most scenic road to drive in India that runs through the heart of the Kutch Lake, with a white desert on one side and the lake on the other.
