Opened in October 2016, Legoland Dubai is one of the most recent attractions to put on your list of places to see in Dubai. As such, on our 6 days family trip to Dubai, I decided to include Legoland Dubai in our itinerary. And what a wonderful decision it turned out to take a family trip to Legoland Dubai. Since, most of the attractions and rides in Legoland Dubai are suitable for kids between 2-12 years of age. And both my kids happen to fit in this age range. So, they had a total blast on our family trip to Legoland Dubai. And if you ask them – what was the best day you spent in Dubai. The answer comes immediately –
“the day we did our family trip to Legoland Dubai“. In fact, towards the end when we were leaving, my younger one asked. – ” Can we come back to Dubai in a few days just to visit Legoland? I want to finish the rides I couldn’t find time for”!!
Wish we could visit Dubai at the blink of an eye like that!! 🙂
I feel more than half the attractions in Dubai are centered around Kids. And Legoland Dubai is one of the top ones. So, if you are planning a trip to Dubai with family and kids. Then, do include Legoland on your list. And you can use this post here as your one stop guide to know all about Legoland Dubai.

Start of our family trip to Legoland Dubai
We reached Legoland Dubai on the 4th day of our Dubai trip at around 11:00am. We had booked a round trip pickup and drop with our tour agency for our family trip to Legoland. Although I would have preferred to start my day at Legoland Dubai earlier. But, the previous day was quiet hectic for my younger kid. So, it was important to give her a good nights sleep. So, we started post breakfast around 10:00am and reached Legoland Dubai drop off area at 11:00am
Since we had our online tickets to Legoland Dubai already with us, we just scanned through at the gates at Riverland. And entered inside without any hassle. It was still not a very crowded day. And slowly, strolling through Riverland, we made our way to Legoland Dubai entryway.

Riverland Dubai
We entered Legoland Dubai via Riverland. It is actually a themed dining, retail, and entertainment district located within Dubai Parks and Resorts. It serves as the gateway to the various theme parks and attractions within the complex including Legoland. Also, it is further divided into it’s also own zones. You can check them out if you have enough time –
- French Village: Inspired by 16th-century French architecture, featuring quaint streets, cafes, and shops.
- Boardwalk having the ambiance of 1950s America, with retro-style diners, street performers, and carnival games.
- Peninsula resembling 19th century Europe.
- India Gate that reflects culture and vibrance of India.
Dining experiences in Riverland include casual dining, street side stalls, formal and fine dine restaurants. It has shops and retail outlets selling souvenirs, gifts, clothing, and accessories ranging from LEGO products to fashion apparel and unique gifts.
Riverland also hosts live entertainment performances, including music concerts, street shows, and cultural events.
I could imagine this place getting really alive as the sun sets. With the brilliant ambiance, lighting, waterside tables setup for dining, all the shops etc. But I couldn’t stay back till late hours to enjoy it. Another reason to return back to Legoland some day in future.
From Riverland, we moved in the direction of Legoland and were soon at it’s main entrance.
Height check for Legoland Dubai
As you enter inside Legoland Dubai, right before scanning your tickets, you can check your kids heights on the height measuring board. The board lists all the rides available across zones. And based on the kids height you can easily see which all rides they qualify for. And accordingly, you can plan to visit those zones first. My elder one who was about to turn 10 when she visited Legoland qualified for all the rides. While the younger one who was 5, could do almost 75% of them.
Also from the information centre here, you can collect a map of Legoland Dubai that will help you with your navigation throughout the day.
Miniland
A miniature LEGO replica of famous landmarks and cityscapes from around the world, Miniland is the first place you encounter on entering Legoland Dubai. Guests can explore iconic landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa, Taj Mahal, and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, all recreated in intricate detail using LEGO bricks.
Also, you can try to replicate some of these landmarks yourself with the help of legos kept aound a long table in Miniland. My younger one got so engrossed here with the legos that she could have spent the whole day here itself.
Apart from the replicas, Miniland also hosts a food court at one end. And has an opening to almost all other zones. So, after visiting all other zones, we finally returned to miniland end of the day. And had a meal here before leaving from Legoland.
Once you come step out of the central plaza in Miniland, there are some rides that are perfect for smaller kids. So, we first enjoyed them before stepping into further zones.
Zones and attractions at Legoland Dubai
LEGOLAND Dubai is divided into several themed zones, each offering a unique experience centered around LEGO bricks and themes. Here are the different zones you can explore within LEGOLAND Dubai:
LEGO City
LEGO City is a metropolis where kids can role-play as firefighters, pilots, or drivers. Attractions in this zone include the LEGO City Airport, where children can earn their pilot’s license at the Flight School, and the LEGO City Rescue Academy, where they can train to become firefighters. Or, LEGO Driving Academy where they can train and obtain a driver’s license.
LEGO City Airport
This zone within LEGO City is dedicated to aviation-themed attractions, including the Flying School roller coaster and the Kid Power Towers, where children can hoist themselves up to the top of the tower.

A zone filled with adventure rides. Some of the top ones include the Lost Kingdom Adventure, an interactive dark ride where guests can shoot targets to defeat mummies, and the Submarine Adventure, where families can embark on an underwater voyage.

This zone is a replica of the times of knights and kings and their kingdoms. Attractions in this zone include the Dragon roller coaster, the Merlin’s Challenge carousel, and the Castle Stage, where live entertainment takes place.
Don’t forget to notice that the pictures in the castle and even the frogs and lotus outside in the ponds are all made of Legos!!
Imagination
With attractions like Build & Test, where guests can design and build their LEGO creations, and the LEGO Studios 4D theater, where immersive 3D films come to life with special effects. In fact, Ishi had her first ever theatre experience here with the short LEGO movie that we watched. And she loved every bit of it. Imagination zone in Legoland is for the creative kids with super imaginations. And as parents, we can definitely assist them further.
The pirates ship
A ship like structure that has a complete play-house inside with hurdles, balls, mazes and swings etc. which the kids can remain engaged in for hours.
Apart from the above zones, Legoland Dubai is throughout dotted with several instragram worthy spots like large animals made from LEGOs and several other kids favourite characters made with LEGOS, lilttle play areas for smaller kids and for parents to rest. Small and cute rides like a small train ride etc. Overall, there is something to stop by and explore at each step.

Tips on doing a family trip to Legoland Dubai
- 2 days will be idle to cover both dry and wet rides in Legoland Dubai. Along with several lego activities that kids love to engage in during the trip.
- If you have a one day ticket to Legoland Dubai, do arrive by opening time. And stay back till closing time to make the most of your time.
- Since Legoland Dubai is located at Dubai parks and resorts. Almost at a 1 hour ride from the main city of Dubai. So, do plan to start your day early to save time.
- When visiting in summer months, carry an umbrella with you for sun protection. And wear hats. We were super lucky that the day we visited Legoland Dubai it remained mostly cloudy.
- There are plenty of rest rooms and refreshment shops all around Legoland Dubai. So you need not worry when visiting with the kids.
- Right before the entry to Legoland Dubai, do check your kids height. And accordingly figure out in advance which all rides they are qualified for. Since rides are mostly clustered in one location. So, it helps to predecide which zone you want to head to first.
Our overall experience at Legoland Dubai was a smooth one. But, we felt a lack of more rides to keep adults and parents also as engaged as the kids 🙂 If I compare it to our visit to Universal Studio Singapore on our trip to Singapore or to Disneyland Paris – I will definitely say there is a lot more for adults and for families to do in the later ones. But, overall, kids had such a great time that end of the day, it was a very successful family trip to Legoland Dubai. And if I visit Dubai again, I will once again take my kids here.
