Table of Contents
Location of Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad
The Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad is centrally located in the city of Hyderabad, right opposite to Hussain Sagar Lake – the largest lake of Hyderabad. As such, there is no lack of cabs, autorickshaw or any mode of transport near the hotel. And as soon as you step out of the hotel, with 100 metres you arrive at the main road that runs along the Hussain Sagar Lake. As such, there are several places of interest at walkable distance from the Marriott Resort and Conventional Centre Hyderabad, including –
- The pavement opposite to Hussain Sagar Lake that thrives with street food outlets, horse ride option, balloon and other toy sellers – making it absolutely come live by the evening time.
- Hussain Sagar Lake boating point which is ~1.5km
- Lumbini Park located on the edge of Hussain Sagar Lake which is ~2.3km
- The famous Chutney’s Restaurant Outlet and a Karachi Bakery Outlet located ~2.3km
And all the other important landmarks of the city that might be of interest are located on equal distance from the Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad. For instance, the Golkonda Fort is located at ~13km from the Marriott Hotel. And at the other hand, the Char Minar is also located ~ 14km from here. Thus, you not only get to enjoy a staycation at Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad. But you also have plenty of options to step out and explore.
In fact, some of the rooms in the hotel come with partial view of the lake while some others have direct view as well.
Property tour of Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad
As you enter inside the property, there is an open parking on both sides of the drive way. We parked our vehicles here. Although further in, there is more parking space.
The driveway enters at the main entry to the building, where you get down the vehicle. A security check happens here.
As you enter into the main lobby, there is a reception area on one side, lounge area on the opposite side. And an open cafe cum restaurant – Deli – Hyderabad Baking Company. Which has seating facing the Hussain Sagar Lake. From besides here, you walk to the glass lift. There are three lifts that cater to the guests. And on the other side of the lift lobby is the entry of one of the main restaurants – Okra. We had most of our meals here.
Outside, there is a small manicured lawn which leads to the swimming pool area. I would say, the outdoor space is really limited for the luxury level of this hotel. I wish there was a proper garden or more landscaped corners where people could sit outdoors like the Marriott Bangalore or Leela Bangalore. Of course I understand, this hotel being in the centre of the city, we can’t expect outdoor spaces like Radisson Blu Temple Bay or Taj Kovalam. But some greenery and open space around would be nicer. Nevertheless, the rest of the facilities make up for it.
Rooms at Marriott Resort Hyderabad
There are several types of rooms at Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad ranging from twin rooms to king rooms to suites. Most of these come with a bathtub, clean linen, comfortable study desk, TV with firestick, free wifi with good strength, complimentary drinking water and many other basic amenities like toiletries, ironing board, in-room dining menu etc.
The cleanliness of the rooms really impressed me. Unlike on our road trip to Maharashtra wherein we had stayed at Marriott Nagpur and the linen in the room were not as clean. Overall our kids had a wonderful time enjoying their favourite shows on the television, soaking into a hot tub and enjoying a peaceful night’s sleep end of the day.
Food options at Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad
The food at Marriott Hyderabad was what truly raised the bar. We had got a package with both breakfast and dinner included in it. And the buffet spread at Okra was so impressive. There were countless items in all sections – from starters to main course to desserts. Then this was further topped with live counter serving a variety of chats, dosas, pasta and what not. And how can any meal in Hyderabad complete without having biryani on the platter. So, there were minimum 3 varieties of biryani on offer.
Apart from Okra, there are several other restaurants on the premises that you can enjoy during your staycation at Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad. These include the Bidri – an Indian restaurant serving “Riyasati” kitchen flavours from the region. And a cafe “Deli” of Hyderabad Baking Company – at the ground floor which my kid was tempted to try all the time. It serves hot or cold coffees, refreshments, pastries and cakes and even buffets based on your package. Then there is Altitude – a trendy lounge bar with panoramic view of Hussain Sagar Lake.
Other facilities on the premises
Apart from enjoying your stay and food during your staycation at Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad, there are several other facilities for you to enjoy which include –
- A fully equipped gym
- Swimming pool
- Spa treatments
- Concierge services
- Curated tours organised through the travel desk
- Car rent to anywhere in the city
Our experience staying at the Marriott Resort and Convention Centre Hyderabad
We had a wonderful stay at the Marriott Hyderabad. With amazing buffet spreads at the breakfast and dinner both. Ample facilities in the room to keep us cozy and pampered. And the convenience to step out using either our own vehicle or an easily available public transport. We took walks along the Hussain Sagar Lake, enjoyed hot tub baths, pampered ourselves with pool side dining in Okra (yes, with the rains pouring outside, having our dinner by the glass window was one of the most cozy moments we had here). However, a few things that I would like to see improved include –
- There’s a very strong foul odour that comes from the drain that merges into the lake water right in front of Marriott. You can feel it in the entryway to reception, the driveway and as you step out in the landscaped areas of the hotel. It is particularly very strong in the small garden area in front side of hotel, where, I couldn’t bear to stand. I am sure the hotel being such a big brand can do something about getting it cleaned / treated so that there’s a permanent solution to this smell problem
- I wish there was little more landscaped outdoor spaces to enjoy in the morning or evening times.
- Some of the areas are neglected and give feeling of a very old building like the cove spaces around the swimming pool that call for more cleanliness as well as better decor.
Overall, it was a good stay that we had. We enjoyed our meals and room, and roamed around in the day and evening. Overall, I would recommend the Marriott Resort and Convention centre Hyderabad for a stay where you plan to step out and explore around. If you are staying at the property all through the day, you will get bored and feel confined.
