The nearest airport to Sundarbans from Kolkata is Dumdum Airport, which is 110-120 km from the start of Sundarbans trip. So, if you’re out of Kolkata, you can catch a flight and reach Dumdum Airport. From there, take a bus, taxi or car and reach Godkhali, Sonakhali or Jharkhali. From there, you have to take a boat to the Sundarbans.

By Train

here’s no direct train service to Sundarbans. Trains will also be close to the entry point, but from there, you have to rely on boats. The nearest rail station from Kolkata is Canning, which is 45 km from Sundarbans. The trains close to Sundarbans depart from Sealdah Junction and arrive at Canning Junction.

By Road

You can book a cab or a bus and reach the entry points of Sundarbans, and from there, you can access waterways.

  • Bus: There is no direct bus service from Kolkata to Sundarbans. However, you can find various bus services from locations like Esplanade and Howrah. Availing buses can take you close to Sundarban stops like Canning, Sonakhali, Namkhana, Raidigi and Najat. Once you reach the stop, there are boat services that will take you to the mangrove forests.
